Men's Basketball Drops 2022 Finale

Seton Hill returned to action on Friday afternoon after the Christmas Break with a PSAC West Crossover matchup at West Chester. 
 
West Chester used a 27-4 run in the second half to pull away from the Griffins in an 82-68 victory over the Griffins.  SHU is now 6-5 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC while WCU improves to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC. 
 
The Golden Rams opened the contest by scoring the first six points.  Baskets from Caleb Whitaker, Sean Dillon and Gabe Gillespie cut the Golden Rams lead to 8-6 with 14:45 to play in the half.  Three points from Dillon and a three point play from Samuel Tabe tied the score at 14 with 11:03 to play. 
 
West Chester answered with an 8-0 run over a 1:10 span as they took a 22-14 lead.  Ryan Meis hit a jumper and Drew Green added a free throw before West Chester hit back to back three pointers to take a 28-17 lead at the under eight minute media timeout.  The Griffins responded with back to back layins from Gillespie and a fast break layup from Brock Baker as they trailed 28-23 with 4:49 to play.  Whitaker's jumper from the free throw line cut the lead to three. 
 
A three pointer from Dillon and a driving layup from Tabe gave SHU its first lead of the game at 30-29 with 2:35 to play.  West Chester took a 33-32 lead into the halftime break. 
 
Tabe scored the first eight points for the Griffins in the second half as they took a 40-35 lead with 17:36 to play in the half.  Later in the half, the Golden Rams went on a 16-0 run over a 4:06 stretch to take a 59-46 lead with 10:32 to play in the half. 
 
The Golden Rams continued the run, which ended up being a 27-4 run, as they built their lead to 66-48 with 8:26 to play.  The Griffins got to back within twelve points but would get no closer in the loss.
 
Tabe led the Griffins with 24 points.  Gillespie added 11 points and Dillon and Meis also reached double figures with 10 points. 
 
The Griffins will travel to top ranked Indiana (PA) on Wednesday evening to open PSAC West play.
