Seton Hill concluded their weekend PSAC Crossover set with a road matchup at Mansfield on Saturday evening.
The Griffins outscored Mansfield 23-8 in the second quarter to pull away and never looked back in a 69-45 victory over the Mountainers. SHU is now 5-3 on the season and 1-1 in the PSAC.
Mansfield came out of the gates flying as they scored the first nine points of the contest to take a 9-0 lead just 2:10 into the contest. The Griffins responded with a 16-2 run as they took a 16-11 lead with 1:45 to play.
Courtney Tomas hit three straight three pointers in the run for the Griffins. SHU led 16-13 after one quarter of play.
SHU opened the second quarter scoring the first eight points as they built a 24-13 lead less than two minutes in.
Abby Mankins and
Maddy Moore each hit threes and
Alie Seto added a layup in the run. Late in the quarter, the Griffins got three straight three pointers to take a 39-19 lead.
Hallie Cowan hit two and Moore hit the other. SHU took a 39-21 lead into the halftime break.
The Griffins shot 52% from the floor and 53% from three point land in the first half while holding Mansfield to just 33% from the floor and 13% from three. SHU also forced 12 turnovers in the half.
Seton Hill continued their hot shooting from three point land in the second half as
Helene Cowan hit a three pointer to give SHU a 45-23 lead just over two minutes into the half. SHU continued to hold a large lead throughout the quarter and led by twenty points heading to the fourth quarter.
Mansfield was able to cut the lead to 15 in the fourth quarter but the Griffins then scored the final nine points of the contest.
Tomas led SHU with 12 points.
Hallie Cowan added 11 points. Seto and
Corinne Eisner each added eight points.
Seton Hill will take a break for finals this week before heading to Puerto Rico for the Porta del Sol Shootout on December 11-13.
