Griffins Run Season Opening Winning Streak to Five

The Griffins concluded their three game homestand with a non conference matchup with Shippensburg on Tuesday evening.

Seton Hill was able to run their season opening winning streak to five with an 81-70 victory over the Raiders.  SHU is now 5-0 on the season while the Raiders drop to 1-3.

SHU got off to a slow start and trailed Ship 4-2 after four minutes of play.  A three pointer from Jimmy Moon and five straight points from Drew Green put the Griffins in front 10-4 with 15:12 to play.  Shippensburg responded with an 11-3 run as they took a 15-13 lead with 11 minutes to play before the halftime break.

With the score tied at 17, the Griffins went on a 7-0 run to take a 24-17 lead with eight minutes to play.  Brock Baker hit a three pointer in the middle of the run.  A three pointer from Sean Dillon and a basket from Samuel Tabe gave the Griffins a 38-27 lead at the halftime break.

After a Ship basket to start the half, Tabe scored three straight baskets to give SHU a 44-29 lead just over two minutes into the second half.  Over the next eight minutes, the Griffins lead would be between eleven and sixteen points.

Back to back three pointers from Moon and Dillon extended the lead to seventeen at 65-48 with 8:54 to play.  The Griffins lead reached nineteen points before settling for an eleven point victory.

The Griffins shot 48% from the floor and 43% from three point land.  Seton Hill forced 13 turnovers which led to 18 points.

Tabe led the Griffins with 23 points.  Dillon finished with 15 points while Meis added 13.  Moon also reached double figures with 11.
