Seton Hill returned home for their home opener on Wednesday evening as they hosted Salem University in a non conference matchup.
The Griffins jumped out to a 53-34 halftime lead and cruised to a 91-66 win over the Tigers. With the win, the Griffins improve to 3-0. Â
It is the first three game winning streak for the Griffins since February of 2017. It is the first 3-0 start for the program since the start of the 2005-06 season. Â
Seton Hill came out of the gates hot as they built a quick 8-2 lead just two and a half minutes into the contest.Â
Sean Dillon opened the game with a basket and a three pointer and
Ryan Meis added a three pointer to close out the 8-2 run. Salem was able to battle back and cut the Griffins lead to 17-16 with 13:30 to play. Over the next three minutes the Griffins went on a 12-2 run, the final three coming on a
Drew Green three as SHU led 29-18 with 10:41 to play in the half. Â
The Griffins then went on a 9-0 run over a four minute stretch as they built a 40-22 lead with 6:14 to play. Green's three point play late in the half, gave SHU a 53-34 halftime lead. Â
SHU shot 57% from the floor in the first half. The Griffins forced nine Salem turnovers in the half. Â
Over the first five and a half minutes of the second half, the Griffins outscored the Tigers by a 17-7 margin as they built a 70-41 lead. Salem was able to trim the lead to 72-53 with just over eleven minutes to play in the half. Â
Seton Hill put the game away with an 11-0 run over a four minute stretch as they built their lead back to thirty points.Â
Jimmy Moon hit two three pointers and
Samuel Tabe added a three and a jumper as SHU scored eleven straight. Â
Five different Griffins reached double figures in the win. Tabe led the Griffins with 18 points. Dillon and Green each added 14 points. Meis and Moon added 12 points.
The Griffins will host Roberts Wesleyan on Friday afternoon at noon in another non conference matchup.
