Men's Hoops Improves to 2-0 to Start Season

The Seton Hill men's basketball team closed out play in the Butler County Chamber of Commerce Conference Challenge against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon in Slippery Rock.  

Seton Hill led by 26 at the half, 48-22, and never looked back as they improved to 2-0 with an 87-51 victory over the Battlers.  

Back to back three pointers from Michael Joiner and Sean Dillon and a basket from Samuel Tabe gave the Griffins an early 13-7 lead less than four minutes into the half.  SHU was able to build their lead to 12 after a three from Jimmy Moon, a basket from Caleb Whitaker and a three point play from Gabe Gillespie.  After James Rice's layup midway through the half, the Griffins held a 32-15 lead.  

In just over a four minute stretch, the Griffins went on a 14-0 run as they took a 48-18 lead with just over two minutes to play in the half.  AB scored the final four points of the half and SHU led 48-22 at the halftime break.  

The Griffins were 21-32 from the field in the first half (63%) while holding Alderson Broaddus to just 28%.  

After an AB basket to open the half, Moon drilled a three and Dillon added a basket as SHU took a 53-24 lead less than two minutes into the half.  Midway through the half, the Griffins led 70-34.  

The Griffins were able to push their lead to as many as 43 points down the stretch as they remained perfect on the season.  

SHU finished shooting 52% from the field in the contest.  They hald AB to just 30%.  SHU forced 23 turnovers which led to 26 Griffin points.  

Tabe led the Griffins with 17 points.  Whitaker added 16 points.  Dillon was next with 15 points.  Gillespie just missed double figures with nine.  Whitaker lead SHU with seven rebounds.

SHU will host Salem on Wednesday evening at 6 PM in another non conference matchup.
