#13 IUP Powers Past Griffins

Seton Hill made the short trip to Indiana, PA for a PSAC West matchup with the #13 Crimson Hawks on Saturday afternoon.

IUP built a 23-0 halftime lead and defeated the Griffins by a 44-7 score.

The Griffins won toss and deferred their choice until the second half.  The defense came out hot, forcing IUP to a three and out.  IUP used a 69 yard punt to pin the Griffins at their own one yard line.  After a three and out, a short punt gave IUP good field position at the SHU 31.  It only took IUP four plays to reach the end zone and take a 7-0 lead with nine minutes to play in the first quarter.  Late in the quarter, IUP took advantage of an interception as they scored a 12 yard touchdown to take a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play.

The Crimson Hawks took advantage of another short punt and marched 50 yards for a touchdown as they built a 20-0 lead early in the second quarter.  IUP hit a 39 yard field goal late in the half as they extended their lead to 23-0.

With ten minutes to play in the third quarter, IUP extended their lead to 30-0 on a 27 yard touchdown pass.  Midway through the quarter, they hit another TD pass, this one for 23 yards as they built their lead to 37-0.

Midway through the fourth quarter, the Griffins converted a fourth and 19 with a 33 yard touchdown pass from Tyler Bradley to Hezikiah Hawkins.

Bradley finished with 151 passing yards and one touchdown.  Mark Bails had five catches for 60 yards.  Taiyon Battle had three catches for 50 yards.  Narrio Walks led the defense with 12 tackles, including three tackles for loss.

SHU will continue PSAC West play next Saturday at Edinboro.
