Seton Hill hosted Mercyhurst on Wednesday afternoon in a battle of two of the top teams in the PSAC West.
Grace Kenyon made 10 saves and the Griffins scored goals in each half in a 2-0 win over the Lakers. SHU improves to 7-2-6 overall and 5-2-6 in the west while Mercyhurst falls to 9-3-4 overall and 8-2-4 in the west.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on an olimpico from
Mikayla Moyer. Moyer took a corner kick and put the ball directly into the top right hand corner of the net for the Griffin lead. Kenyon had three saves in the first half.
Less than two minutes into the second half, the Griffins extended their lead to 2-0.
Corynna Rotoli finished a cross from
Madison Carr, beating the Laker keeper to extend the Griffins lead to 2-0. From that point on it was all Kenyon as she made save after save to keep the Lakers off the scoreboard. She made seven saves in the second half, all of them after the Griffins took the 2-0 lead.
Kenyon finished with ten saves in net in the shutout win. Moyer,
Alianna Resch and
Jessica Molitoris each had two shots for the Griffins.
Seton Hill will travel to UPJ for a PSAC West contest on Saturday.
