The Griffin wrestlers took part in the UPJ Quad match on Sunday afternoon in Johnstown. The quad match featured two make up PSAC Duals for the Griffins from contests that were postponed earlier this season.
Seton Hill opened the quad match with a 33-13 win over Shippensburg. The Griffins then dropped a 38-3 decision to #13 Pitt Johnstown. SHU closed out the day with a 31-14 loss to King (TN). SHU falls to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in PSAC Duals.
Frank Bonura opened the Ship match with a 21-5 tech fall win at 125 pounds to put the Griffins in front. After a loss at 133 pounds, the Griffins won three straight matches to take a 20-3 lead.
Joel Cawoski won 4-0 at 141 pounds.
Logan McKoy picked up a forfeit win and
Tyler Alberts won by fall (1:13) at 157 pounds.
SHU then won three straight matches to clinch the win.
Luke Ewing won by a 5-2 score at 174 pounds.
Riley O'Mara picked up a win by fall with two seconds left in the first period at 184 pounds and
Brendan Finnerty won by a 10-1 major decision at 197 pounds.
William Burgess was the lone Griffin to earn a win in the UPJ match. Burgess won by a 4-0 score at 133 pounds.
Burgess won 9-4 at 133 pounds to trim the King lead to 6-3 early in the final match. Alberts won 6-3 at 157 pounds.
Luke Ewing earned a 16-0 tech fall win at 174 pounds and Finnerty won by a 10-3 score at 197 pounds.
SHU will continue PSAC Dual match action on Wednesday evening when they host Gannon.
