Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Griffins Defeated by #6 IUP

Seton Hill played host to one of the top teams in the country Wednesday night, as 6th-ranked IUP came to the McKenna Center, and the Crimson Hawks proved worthy of that lofty ranking, cashing in 18 three-pointers en route to a 100-60 victory over the Griffins.

IUP was red-hot from the floor right from the start, burying four three-pointers in the first seven minutes in taking a 16-0 lead to open the contest. Ryan Meis ended the Griffin's cold spell to start the game with a three, but the Crimson Hawks continued to shoot it well, as they hit 58 percent (18-31) from the floor in the opening half. Seton Hill did close the first half with a three-point play by Sean Dillon with 47 seconds left and a Meis lay-in at the halftime buzzer, but IUP carried a 47-17 lead into the break.

Seton Hill's shooting heated up in the second half. An 8-0 spurt highlighted by a lay-up by Samuel Tabe and consecutive threes by Dillon and Jaylen Stewart trimmed the deficit to 58-33. But IUP was just as good from the arc in second half. After making 9-of-17 from deep in the opening period, the Crimson Hawks repeated the 9-of-17 effort from three-point land after halftime, as they picked up their fifth win in a row.

The Griffins, who shot 57 percent from the floor and 8-of-13 from the arc in the second half, had big scoring nights from Dillon and Stewart. Dillon tallied 16 of his 19 points after halftime, while Stewart went 4-for-4 from the three-point line on his way to a season-high 19 points. Tabe chipped in with nine points and Meis finished with eight markers in the game. Jimmy Moon led the effort on the glass with nine boards, while Dillon passed out four assists.

Seton Hill goes on the road for their next game, traveling to Pitt-Johnstown for a 7 pm tip-off Saturday night.
