Behind a stellar defensive effort which allowed only seven shots and
Archie Lock's one goal and one assist, Seton Hill posted a 3-0 road win at Salem (W.Va.) University in a non-conference match Saturday.
The Griffins took the lead early in the match, as Elias Vangren scored in the 14th minute, ripping a shot into the upper 90 for his second of the season to put SHU in front 1-0. The lead swelled to 2-0 at the 29:06 mark when Lock struck a free kick that found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. The two-goal advantage stood at halftime, as Seton Hill allowed just three shots in the opening half and none were on goal.
The second half opened with the Griffins adding to their lead very early. With just 1:18 off the clock, Lock delivered a corner into the box and
Wilfred Munn finished for his initial goal of the season and the Seton Hill lead grew to 3-0. The Griffins defense made sure that lead stood after that, allowing just four shot attempts in the second half. Keeper
Bobby White made his one save for the match on a shot less than a minute after the third SHU goal and would record his first clean sheet of the season, as Seton Hill's record improved to 3-2-1 on the year.
Up next for the Griffins is their conference opener, as they will host Mercyhurst in a PSAC West tilt Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm.
