The Griffins hosted Indiana (PA) in a makeup contest from the game that was postponed last Saturday. The Crimson Hawks scored a goal in each period for a 4-1 win over the Griffins. IUP improves to 3-0 on the season while the Griffins fall to 1-4 on the year.
IUP scored an early goal in the first period as they cracked the scoreboard just 1:41 into the first quarter. The Crimson Hawks held a 5-2 advantage in shots in the quarter.
Shannon Mccormac recorded three saves in the quarter.
The Crimson Hawks increased their lead to 2-0 with 3:47 to play in the first half. Mccormac finished the first half with six saves.
With just over four minutes to play in the third quarter, the Crimson Hawks increased their lead to 3-0. Mccormac posted six saves in the third quarter.
Just over five minutes into the fourth period, the Griffins got on the scoreboard.
Jade Taylor finished a pass from
Maeve Robillard to trim the IUP lead to 3-1. A little over two minutes later, the Crimson Hawks increased their lead back to three at 4-1.
Haley Brenny,
Olivia Diebel, Taylor and
Makayla Batts each had a shot on goal. Mccormac finished with 16 saves in cage.
SHU will host Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon at noon.
