Women's Soccer Falls in Home Opener

Seton Hill continued PSAC West play on Wednesday afternoon when they hosted Slippery Rock in the home opener for the Griffins.  Slippery Rock scored three times in the second half of a game that had a hour long lightening delay for a 4-1 win over the Griffins.  SHU falls to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in PSAC West play while the Rock improves to 4-0-1 overall and 3-0 in PSAC West play.

Slippery Rock got on the board first with a goal in the 20th minute of the contest as they took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins.  SHU bounced back to tie the contest with 3:44 to play in the first half.  Marissa Steck found Mikaela Small whose shot beat the keeper into the lower left hand corner of the net.  The teams headed to the locker room tied at one.  Both teams had three shots in the first period.  Grace Kenyon recorded two saves in the half as well.

The Rock did not waste much time scoring in the second half.  They took the lead for good with a goal just 4:27 into the second half.  Just over ten minutes into the second half, the teams were send off the field due to lightening in the area.  After nearly an hour delay, the teams retook the field.  It did not take the Rock very long to increase their lead to two.  Less than two minutes after the restart, the Rock increased their lead to 3-1 on a goal off a free kick.  With just about 12 minutes to play in the contest, the Rock increased their lead to 4-1.

Victoria Rothrauff led the Griffins with two shots on goal.  Alyssa Neast and Small each added a shot on goal.  Kenyon finished with three saves in net.

SHU will continue PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Pitt Johnstown.
