Seton Hill hosted West Chester for the first game of the PSAC Finals on Friday afternoon at the SHU Softball Complex in Greensburg, PA.
The Golden Rams scored six runs in two different innings in route to a 15-2 win over the Griffins in game one. The Golden Rams take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the best of three series. SHU falls to 32-13 overall while the Rams improve to 29-14 overall.
Griffin starter
Logan Hartman got off to a good start in the circle with a 1-2-3 top of the first inning. Hartman retired two of the three hitters by strikeout.
West Chester took advantage of two Griffin errors in the top of the second, scoring two unearned runs to take a 2-0 lead. They added another run in the third inning with a two out single that drove in a run. The Golden Rams broke the game open in the fourth inning. They used six hits and three Griffin errors to score six times and increase their lead to 9-0.
Seton Hill got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jenna Osikowicz led off the inning with a single. She got to second on a throwing error when
Lauren Dellett reached.
Madison Hans pinch ran for Dellett and later scored in the inning on when
Alexis Vargas reached on a fielders choice.
Allison Kapoll kept the Griffins alive with a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the fifth which cut the WCU lead to 9-2.
West Chester put the game away with a six run seventh inning.
Kapoll led the Griffins with two hits.
The teams will meet tomorrow afternoon in game two of the best of three series with the Griffins needing a win to stay alive in the finals. First pitch is set for 1 PM.
