Hartman and Griffins Force Winner Take All Game Three

Seton Hill continued their run in the PSAC Postseason as they hosted Gannon in a best of three PSAC Semifinal on Monday afternoon in Greensburg.  

Gannon scored twice in the top of the seventh inning in game one for an 8-6 victory over the Griffins.  SHU responded and forced a winner take all game three with a 6-1 win in game two.  SHU is now 31-12 overall and Gannon is now 28-14.  

Both teams broke out the bats in game one as they combined for 14 runs.  Gannon scored an unearned run in top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.  The Griffins answered back in the bottom half of the inning.  Morgan Toal singled to open the inning.  She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nichole McClendon.  A few hitters later, Alexis Vargas doubled to drive in a run and tie the score at one.  Next, Samantha Estupinian singled to knock in Vargas and give SHU a 2-1 lead.  

The Knights tied the game at two with a solo shot in the top of the third inning.  They took the lead with a leadoff homer in the top of the fourth inning.  SHU retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning.  Christiana Skrabak singled to lead off the inning and Vargas followed with a single to put runners on second and third with no one out.  Samantha Estupinian reached on an errror which allowed both runners to score and put SHU in front 4-3.  Gannon retook the lead from the Griffins with three runs in the top of the fifth inning.  

Seton Hill tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Skrabak was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  With one out, Estupinian singled.  Nina Grandey followed with a single to load the bases.  A pop out set the table for Jenna Osikowicz.  Osikowicz tied the game with a clutch two out, two RBI single on a 3-2 pitch.  Gannon scored two runs on four hits in the top of the seventh inning to take an 8-6 lead.  

Osikowicz, Vargas and Estupinian each had two hits in game one.  

As the road team in game two, the Griffins scored twice in the top of the first to take an early lead.  With two out, Lauren Dellett and Toal singled to put runners on second and third.  They both scored on an Vargas single that put the Griffins in front 2-0.  The Knights cut the lead in half with a one out homer in the bottom of the first inning.  

Seton Hill made it 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning.  With one out, Logan Hartman singled.  She scored when pinch hitter Nina Grandey hit a missile over the left center field wall to give the Griffins a three run lead.  Skrabak hit a bomb to straight away center field to open the top of the sixth inning and extend the SHU lead to 5-1.  Estupinian made it 6-1 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning. 

The Knights threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning, loeading the bases with one out, but starter Hartman was able to get a pop out and a foul out to end the game.

Hartman did it all for the Griffins as she threw a complete game five hitter while striking out four.  She also had two hits at the plate.  Logan improved to 12-1 on the season.  Dellett led the Griffins with three hits.  Osikowicz and Hartman each had two hits.  

Tomorrow's game three is set for a 1 PM start.  The winner of tomorrow's game three wins the series and will host West Chester beginning Friday afternoon in the best of three PSAC Finals.
