Griffin Bats Explode in Sweep of Clarion

Seton Hill traveled to Clarion for a make up PSAC West doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.  

The Griffin offense exploded for 33 runs in the pair of games to sweep the homestanding Golden Eagles.  SHU took game one by a 15-3 score and completed the sweep with an 18-0 win in game two.  SHU is now 23-2 overall and 15-2 in the west.  

Derek Orndorff got the Griffins on the board first in game one with a solo homer with two outs in the top of the first inning.  Clarion scored twice in the bottom half of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead.  

SHU struck for five runs on just two hits, thanks to five Clarion errors in the third inning.  Tyler Peterson singled to drive in a run and Orndorff added another RBI as SHU took a 3-2 lead.  Isaiah DiAndreth doubled in two runs and Jordan Fiedor added an RBI as SHU led 6-2 after the inning.  

Brandon Kline drew a bases loaded walk and Peterson singled in two more runs to give SHU a 9-2 advantage in the fifth.  Fiedor drove in two more runs with a two run homer in the top of the sixth inning.  Owen Sabol and DiAndreth each knocked in two more runs in the seventh inning as SHU took a 15-3 lead.  

Marshall McGraw earned the win, he worked four innings and struck out eight.  Peterson finished with three hits and three RBI.  DiAndreth, Fiedor and Rauso each had two hits.  DiAndreth drove in four and Fiedor added three RBIs.

The Griffins struck for three runs in the top of the first inning of game two.  Fiedor doubled and scored when Tommy Pellis grounded out.  Orndorff reached on an error and scored on a DiAndreth two run homer as SHU led 3-0.  

Jamie Wrabel and Pellis added RBIs in the second inning as SHU built a 5-0 lead.  DiAndreth added three more runs driven in with a hit in the fourth and Peterson followed with a two run shot to give SHU a 10-0 lead.  

Canice Ejoh added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to push the SHU lead to 11-0.  The Griffins added four more runs in the sixth inning.  DiAndreth homered to open the inning.  Wrabel, Neal McDermott and and Brandon Kline each added RBIs in the inning.  

Elijah Snider aded an RBI in the seventh and Wrabel closed out the scoring with a two RBI single.

Wrabel finished 4-5 with four RBIs. DiAndreth and Fiedor each added three hits.   DiAndreth homered twice and drove in six.  Sabol added two hits.

SHU will travel to California (PA) for a PSAC West doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
