Seton Hill had a short turn around after yesterday's doubleheader as they started their Saturday doubleheader at 11 AM in Erie to beat the weather.
That early start did not have an affect on the Griffins as they used the eight run rule to defeat the Lakers by a 9-1 score in five innings in game one. SHU completed the sweep with a 2-1 win in game two. The Griffins are now 22-8 overall and 19-5 in PSAC West play.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning. With two outs,
Lauren Dellett singled and scored on a
Morgan Toal double. The Lakers tied the game at one in the bottom half of the inning. SHU retook the lead in the top of the second inning.
Christiana Skrabak was hit by a pitch and later scored on a passed ball.
In the third inning, Toal drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Skrabak knocked in two runs with a homer to left center field to give SHU a 5-1 lead. SHU put the game away in the fourth inning. After an out,
Madison Hans singled.
Nichole McClendon reached on a error and Osikowicz singled to knock in Hans and McClendon.
Nina Grandey then followed with her first collegiate home run to put SHU in front 9-1.
Shaelynn Myers earned her second win of the season in the circle. Osikowicz and Dellett each had two hits in the win.
Game two was scoreless through the first five innings. The Griffins got on the scoreboard first in the sixth inning when Osikowicz homered with one out.
Allison Kapoll added an RBI double in the seventh inning to give SHU a 2-0 lead.
Lauren Bertig earned the win in the circle. She gave up one run on six hits and struck out three.
SHU will host Clarion in a PSAC West doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.
