Grove Wins 100th; Griffins Improve to 10-0

Seton Hill made the trip to central PA to take on Lock Haven in PSAC West action on Tuesday afternoon.  

it was a special day for the Griffins as head coach Courtney Grove won her 100th career contest in the Griffins 15-5 win over the Bald Eagles.  Seton Hill also improved to 10-0 on the season and 9-0 in PSAC West play with the win.  

Lock Haven scored the first two goals of the contest as they took an early 2-0 lead less than four minutes into the contest.  The Griffins responded with a 4-0 run over a ten minute stretch to take a 4-2 lead midway through the first period.  Kate and Kristi Kada, Alyssa Ference and Jaclyn Frank each scored a goal during the run.  

The Bald Eagles scored with 11:15 to play in the half before the Griffins closed the half on a 3-0 run to take a 7-3 lead into the halftime break.  Elizabeth Tamasitis scored the first goal of the run and Kate Kada scored the final two before the half.  

The Griffins held a 15-13 advantage in shots in the first half.  SHU had a 10-5 advantage in ground balls and a 9-2 advantage in draw controls.  

Kate Kada and Tamasitis scored the first two goals of the second half as SHU built their lead to six.  LHU answered back with two goals to cut the SHU lead to 9-5 with just under 14 minutes to play in the half.  

That would be the last goal the Eagles would score as SHU closed the game on a 6-0 run.  Kristi Kada scored three goals, Ference added two and Piper Conlan added the final goal of the contest.

SHU outshot LHU by a 33-20 margin in the contest.  They held an 19-11 advantage in ground balls and a 17-5 advantage in draw controls.  

Kate and Kristi Kada each scored four times for the Griffins.  Ference finished with three goals and an assist.  Tamasitis added two goals and Frank finished with a goal and four assists.

SHU will take a break from PSAC West play as they host Walsh on Friday afternoon at 1 PM.
