The Griffins continued their four game series with Gannon with a road PSAC West doubleheader on Sunday afternoon and evening.
SHU took game one by the score of 3-2 before dropping game two by a score of 3-0 to split the doubleheader and the four game set. SHU is now 17-7 overall and 14-4 in the west while Gannon is 17-11 overall and 16-8 in the west.
Gannon took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins with back to back singles in the bottom of the second inning. The Griffins tied the game in the top of the third inning.
Mackenzie Zang drew a leadoff walk.
Nichole McClendon followed with a bunt single. After a fielders choice put runners at first and second, the Griffins executed a double steal and McClendon was able to score on a bad throw to third to tie the score at one.
Seton Hill took the lead in the fifth inning.
Natalia Greco drew a leadoff walk. She moved up on a sacrifice bunt from Zang. McClendon then doubled to drive in Greco and she scored on an RBI groundout from
Jenna Osikowicz as SHU took a 3-1 lead. Gannon cut the lead to 3-2 in the sixth with a solo homer but would get no closer.
Lauren Dellett picked up her eighth win of the season with a complete game victory. She gave up six hits and struck out two. McClendon went 3-4 with a double.
The Knights scored two runs in the first inning of game two and added a single run in the fifth inning for a 3-0 win over the Griffins.
McClendon and Vargas each singled in the loss.
The Griffins are scheduled to travel to Clarion for a PSAC West doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.
