Seton Hill began their second trip through the PSAC West with a home matchup with IUP on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins came out of the gates flying and took an 8-1 lead just over halfway thru the first half and then cruised to a convincing 18-9 win over the Crimson Hawks. SHU improves to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in PSAC West play.
Just over three minutes into the contest, the Griffins already had a 3-0 lead as they jumped all over the Crimson Hawks.
Elizabeth Tamasitis,
Kristi Kada and
Alyssa Ference scored the three goals in just over a minute span. After an IUP goal, the Griffins rolled off five more goals to build an 8-1 lead with 13:43 to play in the first half.
Hannah Thompson,
Taylor Fox-Trudel and
Kristi Kada scored the first three goals and
Kate Kada followed with two straight as SHU built the seven goal advantage.
From that point on, the teams traded goals for the rest of the half with SHU taking a 10-3 lead into the halftime break. Ference and
Jaclyn Frank scored the pair of goals for the Griffins before the half.
Just 1:44 into the second half,
Kate Kada opened the scoring for SHU. After IUP responded, Fox-Trudel and Ference scored as SHU built a 13-4 advantage with 23:49 to play in the second. IUP had one last run in them as they scored three straight goals to trim the SHU lead to 13-7 with 18:23 to play.
The Griffins answered right back with a three goal run of their own as they scored three goals in just over a minute to retake a nine goal lead.
Kate Kada, Tamasitis and Thompson scored during the three goal run.
The Kada sisters closed out the scoring for the Griffins in the 18-9 win.
SHU outshot the Crimson Hawks by a 35-28 margin. The Griffins had a 17-14 advantage in ground balls and had a 15-14 margin in draw controls.
Kate Kada led the offense with 5 goals. Ference added 3 goals and an assist.
Kristi Kada also scored three times. Thompson, Tamasitis and Fox-Trudel each added two goals. Frank finished with a goal and two assists.
Kamille Ward recorded 10 saves in cage to go to 7-0 on the season.
Makayla Kintner led the Griffins with six ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Kristi Kada led SHU with six draw controls while
Kate Kada added four and Kintner added three.
SHU will travel to Slippery Rock on Wednesday for another PSAC West contest.
