Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock in a PSAC West contest on Saturday afternoon in the home opener for the Griffins.
The Griffins outscored the Rock 8-3 in each half in route to a 16-6 home opener win. SHU is now 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in PSAC West play while the Rock falls to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in PSAC West play.
Kate Kada got the Griffins on the scoreboard just 18 seconds into the contest. Less than thirty seconds later
Alaina TeSelle put the Griffins in front 2-0. The Rock cut the Griffins lead to 2-1 before goals from
Jaclyn Frank and
Kristi Kada put the Griffins back in front 4-1 with 21:17 to play in the first half. After another Rock goal, SHU ran off four straight to build an 8-2 lead.Â
Kristi Kada scored twice,
Kate Kada added one and Frank scored her second during the 4-0 run. The Rock closed out the scoring with a late goal as SHU took an 8-3 lead into the halftime break. Â
SHU held a 15-9 advantage in shots in the first half while the Rock held a 7-4 lead in draw controls.
Goals from TeSelle and
Kristi Kada opened the scoring in the second half as SHU built the advantage to seven at 10-3 with five minutes played in the second half. The Rock scored three of the next four goals to trim the SHU lead to 11-6 with 16:31 to play in the half.Â
Elizabeth Tamasitis scored the lone SHU goal during that run. Â
The Griffins closed the contest on a 5-0 run for the 16-6 win which allowed the clock to run for the final 3:43.Â
Kristi Kada scored twice,
Kate Kada, TeSelle and
Alyssa Ference each added goals in the 5-0 run. Â
SHU finished with a 33-23 advantage in shots in the game. The Rock finished with a 13-10 advantage in draw controls. Â
Kristi Kada scored a game high six goals. TeSelle and
Kate Kada each added three goals. Frank finished with two goals and six assists. Tamasitis added a goal and assist.Â
Kamille Ward finished with 13 saves in cage to earn the win.
