Griffins Pull Away Late for Win over Salem

Seton Hill continued non conference action on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Salem University in a single nine inning contest.

The Griffins scored six times in their final three at bats to pull away for a 7-0 win over the Tigers.  SHU improves to 5-0 on the season.

Seton Hill got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second inning.  Jack Oberdorf led off the inning with a double off the center field wall.  Oberdorf advanced to third on a wild pitch and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Tyler Peterson.

Griffin starter Jared Kollar was able to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard in the first five innings.  He got out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the fifth with a strikeout and a ground out back to himself.

Oberdorf came through with a clutch two run double to right center field in the bottom of the sixth inning to knock in Tommy Pellis and Jordan Fiedor and give the Griffins a 3-0 lead.

SHU added another run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Owen Sabol reached on an error and later scored on a Fiedor double down the left field line.

The Griffins put the game away in the bottom of the eighth.  Pellis led off the inning with a bomb over the left field wall.  Oberdorf followed with a single and Isaiah DiAndreth walked to put runners on first and second.  Both runners scored when Peterson doubled.

Kollar earned the win with five shutout innings.  He gave up just two hits and struck out eight.  Kevin Vaupel tossed three scoreless innings, giving up just one hit while striking out three.  Nash Bryan closed it out with a scoreless ninth.  He struck out two of the three hitters he faced.

Oberdorf led the offense with 3 hits.  He also drove in two.  Fiedor added two hits.  Peterson drove in three runs.

SHU will conclude their weekend with a single nine inning contest with Millersville on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM.
