Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock on Wednesday afternoon as they opened PSAC West play with a doubleheader.
The Griffins took the first game by a 3-2 score and completed the sweep with a 6-2 win in game two. SHU improves to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in PSAC West play while the Rock falls to 1-5 overall and 1-5 in PSAC West play.
SHU jumped on the Rock early in game one by scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning. After an out,
Jenna Osikowicz drew a walk.
Alexis Vargas followed with an RBI double to left center field to give SHU a 1-0 lead. Vargas advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a
Morgan Toal single.
Seton Hill had a chance to add on in the bottom of the second inning with runners on second and third with no one out but two pop ups and a strikeout ended the inning. The Rock tied the score at two in the top of the third inning after an error allowed two runners to score.
The Griffins got one of those runs right back in the bottom of the inning. After one out, Vargas, Toal and
Nina Grandey all singled to load the bases. Vargas scored on a
Christiana Skrabak sacrifice fly to put SHU in front 3-2.

Lauren Dellett was able to hold the lead the rest of the way and retired the Rock 1-2-3 in the seventh inning to close out the game.
Dellett improved to 3-0 on the season with a complete game five hitter. She did not allow an earned run and struck out 10 while walking just one. Toal led the offense with three hits. Vargas finished with two.
Seton Hill manufactured a run in the bottom of the second inning of game two as they took a 1-0 lead.
Nichole McClendon reached on an error to start the inning. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Skrabak. McClendon stole third base and scored on a Grandey ground out.
The game remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth as SHU starter
Lauren Bertig kept the Rock off the board over the first six innings. In the sixth SHU broke the game open with a five spot. Osikowicz and Vargas led off the inning with singles. Toal then reached on a strikeout, wild pitch to load the bases. Pinch hitter
Allison Kapoll singled thru the right side to give SHU a 2-0 lead. Three wild pitches allowed the Griffins to make it 5-0 and Grandey closed out the SHU scoring with a sacrifice fly.
Bertig worked all seven innings to earn the win in the circle. She gave up two runs on five hits while striking out one. Osikowicz finished with three of the Griffins five hits. Grandey drove in two runs in the game.
SHU will travel to Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon to complete the four game PSAC West set.
