Seton Hill closed out their PSAC Crossover trip with a road matchup at Kutztown on Saturday evening. SHU led at the half but the Golden Bears outscored the Griffins 36-20 in the second half in route to a 59-48 win over the Griffins. SHU falls to 6-4 on the season.
The Griffins took the first lead of the game when
Katie Nolan hit the first basket of the game. KU answered back and led for the next six minutes before
Courtney Tomas hit a three to give the Griffins a 10-9 lead with 3:30 to play in the quarter.
Cheyenne Trest then hit a three with just over a minute to play as SHU led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Kelly Weeks opened the second quarter by hitting a three and giving the Griffins a 16-9 lead. The Golden Bears responded with a 7-0 run to tie the score at 16.
Joi Burleigh hit a basket and
Rena Enterline added a three to put SHU back in front 21-16 with just over six minutes to play in the half. Kutztown took a 26-25 lead before
Christiane Frye hit a three before the halftime buzzer to give SHU a 28-26 halftime lead.
An old fashioned three point play from Trest put the Griffins in front 31-28 with 7:15 to play in the third quarter. Trest hit another three pointer to extend the Griffins lead to four points at 34-30. Kutztown was able to take a 43-38 lead at the end of the third quarter.
KU built their lead to seven before the Griffins went on a 6-0 run early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 45-44 with 7:44 to play. The Golden Bears then closed the half on a 14-4 run for the win.
Trest led the Griffins with 11 points. Frye just missed double figures with nine points. Both Tomas and Nolan scored eight points.
The Griffins will take a break before returning to action on December 14th when they host West Chester in another PSAC Crossover.
