The Griffin wrestling team opened their PSAC Dual match season with a road match at Kutztown on Wednesday evening. SHU got two wins by pinfall but it was not enough as the Griffins dropped a 29-15 decision to the Golden Bears. SHU is now 1-1 on the season.
Kutztown won the first two matches of the dual as they took an early 10-0 lead over the Griffins.
Joel Cawoski won by decision in a 6-2 win at 141 pounds as the Griffins trailed the Golden Bears 10-3 after three matches.
After the Kutztown increased their lead to 13-3,
Tyler Alberts got the Griffins to within four points with a win by pinfall just 1:01 into the 157 pound match. SHU trailed 13-9 midway through the dual.
Seton Hill picked up their final win of the dual with a win by pinfall from
Brandon Matthews at 184 pounds. Matthews got the win by pinfall at the 2:08 mark of the first period.
The Griffins will host Gannon next Wednesday evening in their home opener as they continue PSAC dual matches. The match is set for a 7 PM start.
