Griffins Cruise to Win Over PSU-Fayette

The Griffins hosted Penn State Fayette in a non conference matchup on Sunday afternoon in the McKenna Center.  Seton Hill scored the first 33 points of the contest and cruised the rest of the way to an 85-50 win over the Roaring Lions.  SHU improves to 5-3 overall on the season while Fayette falls to 2-3.

Seton Hill drilled three three pointers in the first three minutes of the contest as they took an early 11-0 lead.  Sonia Sarda hit two of the three pointers and Cheyenne Trest hit the other.  The threes continued to rain down as Sarda hit another one and Rena Enterline added one as SHU built their lead to 17-0 four minutes into the quarter.  The Griffins continued to build their lead into a 33-0 advantage before the Roaring Lions scored their first two points from the free throw line with 14 seconds to play in the quarter.  Teresa Haigh hit a three pointer at the end of the quarter as SHU led 36-2 after one quarter.

Back to back three pointers from Maddy Moore and Kelly Weeks extended the SHU lead to 44-6 with 6:33 to play in the first half.  The Roaring Lions cut the Griffins lead to 46-15 at the half.

The Griffin starters returned to start the second half and built the lead back up to 39 points on a three pointer from Sarda just under half way through the third quarter.  Three pointers from Haigh and Moore extended the SHU lead to 41 points with three minutes to play in the quarter.  Haigh followed with a layup as SHU led 66-23 with two minutes left in the quarter.  SHU led 68-27 after three quarters of play.

Moore opened the fourth quarter by draining back to back three pointers as the Griffins were able to build the lead to 74-27 a minute into the quarter.  Moore hit her sixth three pointer of the contest with just under five minutes to play.

The Griffins hit 19 three pointers in the contest, finishing the game, 19-36.  That is the most three pointers from the Griffins over the last nine seasons.

Moore led the Griffins with 18 points on six three pointers.  Those are the most three pointers hit by a Griffin in a game since Megan Marecic also hit six three pointers against California and Shippensburg during the 2018-19 season.  Sarda and Haigh each scored 14 points on four three pointers.  All fourteen Griffins who saw action in the contest, scored at least two points.

Seton Hill will begin PSAC Crossover action this upcoming weekend when they travel to East Stroudsburg on Friday and Kutztown on Saturday.
