Griffins Drop Non Conference Matchup with Davis & Elkins

Seton Hill hosted Davis & Elkins on Wednesday evening in a non conference matchup in the team's home opener.  The Griffins were able to even the game in the second half but could not take a lead as they dropped a 77-71 decision to the Senators.  

The Senators took an early 8-2 lead less than two minutes into the contest.  They were able to extend their lead to 11 points at 16-5 less than five minutes into the contest.  A three pointer from Ryan Meis and two free throws from Jimmy Moon cut the lead to 20-15 midway through the half.  

Meis drained a three to trim the lead to 26-23 with just under seven minutes to play in the half.  Back to back baskets from Jaylen Stewart cut the lead to two points at 30-28 with just under three minutes to play.  Davis and Elkins took a 35-30 halftime lead.  

Moon scored five points and Drew Green hit a jumper as the Griffins tied the game at 37 less than three minutes into the start of the second half.  The Senators pushed their lead back to seven before two baskets from Moon and one from Samuel Tabe trimmed the lead back to one at 46-45 with 13:06 to play.

A Stewart three pointer kept the lead at one, 52-51, midway through the second half.  D&E rallied with a 12-4 run to extend their lead back to 64-55 with 7:06 to play.  The Griffins were able to trim the lead back to four points a few more times the rest of the half but could not get any closer in the 77-71 loss.

Moon led the Griffins with 21 points.  He also pulled down nine rebounds.  Meis added 18 points.  Stewart just missed double figures with nine points.  

SHU will now travel to Salem for a non conference matchup on Saturday.
