Box Score Seton Hill made a trip to West Virginia Saturday to take on Salem University in a non-conference tilt, but the Tigers were less than accommodating hosts, knocking down 14 three-pointers in securing an 89-61 win over the Griffins.
Salem was hot from the arc early, knocking down four treys to open the game with a 16-6 lead. Seton Hill came back with seven of the next nine points off two
Samuel Tabe buckets and a three-pointer by
Drew Green to get back within 19-13. A few minutes later,
Ryan Meis hit from from deep to make it a 25-18 SU lead. The Tigers then rolled off an 11-0 run to take control and despite 16 by Tabe at the break, Salem took a 45-29 lead into halftime.
Seton Hill started the second half with five straight points, as Green finished a traditional three-point play and Tabe knocked down a jumper to trim the deficit to 11, but the Griffins were unable to get it into single digits. The Tigers answered back with eight consecutive points and pulled away from there for the win.
Tabe finished the contest as the top scorer, pouring in a career-high 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting while also hauling down six boards. Green was next in scoring with nine markers, while
Jimmy Moon led the efforts on the glass with nine.
Michael Joiner had a pair of steals on the defensive end.
The Griffins are now off for nearly two weeks before returning to action the first weekend in December. Seton Hill will travel east for a pair of PSAC Crossover match-ups, taking on East Stroudsburg on Friday, Dec. 3rd and then playing at Kutztown on Saturday, Dec. 4th.
