Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but California (Pa.) struck for three second-half goals and came away with a 3-1 victory in a PSAC West match Saturday.
The Griffins (3-4-1, 2-4-1) controlled play through the first half, building a 14-2 advantage in shots and a 6-0 margin in corners. Seton Hill was held off the scoreboard until the 40th minute.
Alexis Garia ripped a shot from the top of the box into the left corner of the goal to put the Griffins in front 1-0. Garia's first goal of the season was assisted by
Natalie Maver. That goal was the lone score of the half and Seton Hill carried the 1-0 advantage into intermission.
The second half was more evenly played through the first 20 minutes, as Seton Hill maintained their one-goal lead. The Vulcans broke through for their initial score in the 70th minute off a free kick. Just five minutes later, Cal scored again to take the lead and the Vulcans scored the third and final goal in the 83rd minute.
Griffin keeper
Grace Kenyon finished the match with three saves.
Seton Hill will be back in action on Wednesday with a road trip to Edinboro for a 6 pm kickoff.
