Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Wins Game Two to Split Pair of Games

The Seton Hill softball team returned to the field on Thursday afternoon after a day off on Wednesday with a pair of games.  SHU took on Charleston (WV) in game one and then met Concordia St Paul in the second game of the day.

Charleston scored a run in the top of the seventh inning for a 4-3 victory over the Griffins in game one of the doubleheader.  SHU responded with a 5-0 win over Concordia St Paul in the nightcap.

UC took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game one.  SHU tied the score at two in the second inning.  Samantha Estupinian drew a lead off walk and moved to second on a Nichole McClendon single.  Both then moved up on a passed ball.  Both runners came around to score on an Allie Havrvey single.

UC retook the lead in the third inning.  The Griffins tied the game at three in the sixth inning.  After one out, Natalia Greco singled.  She scored when Alexis Vargas singled.  The Eagles scored the game winning run in the seventh inning.

Jenna Osikowicz and McClendon each had two hits in game one.

Game two was scoreless for the first four innings.  The Griffins finally broke thru in the fifth.  Vargas and Osikowicz singled to lead off the inning.  They moved up on a Christiana Skrabak sacrifice bunt.  Chelsea Rohan followed with a three run homer to give SHU a 3-0 advantage.

SHU added two more insurance runs in the seventh.  Skrabak walked and Bailey Devinney reached on a catcher's intererence.  Morgan Toal singled to drive in Skrabak and make it 4-0.  Devinney and McClendon then executed a double steal to put the Griffins in front 5-0.

Shaelynn Myers went the distance, scattering three hits while striking out 6.

Vargas, Osikowicz and Rohan each had two hits.

SHU will close out their Florida trip on Friday when they meet Kentucky Wesleyan and St Cloud State.
