Seton Hill closed out their Florida trip with a pair of games in Winter Haven on Friday afternoon. The Griffins took on Kentucky Wesleyan in the first game and ended their Florida trip with a matchup with St Cloud State.
Kentucky Wesleyan scored single runs in four innings in route to a 4-3 win over the Griffins. SHU scored four times in the fourth inning as they defeated St Cloud State by a 5-4 score. SHU is now 7-10 on the season.
The Griffins took a 3-0 lead over Kentucky Wesleyan in the top of the second inning. With two outs,
Samantha Estupinian singled.
Ashley Boehm followed with a triple to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
Alexis Vargas then homered to put the Griffins in front 3-0.
Kentucky Wesleyan scored single runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-3 lead.
Vargas led the Griffins with two hits.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead over St Cloud State in the first inning on singles from
Jenna Osikowicz,
Christiana Skrabak and
Nichole McClendon. SCSU used a hit batter, walk and double to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning.
Seton Hill retook the lead in the fourth inning.
Chelsea Rohan doubled with one out and
Bailey Devinney pinch ran for her.
Allison Kapoll doubled to tie the score at two.
Ashley Boehm doubled to knock in pinch runner
Natalia Greco to give SHU a lead. Osikowicz reached on an error to put SHU in front 4-2 and Estupinian added an RBI single to give the Griffins a 5-2 lead.
St Cloud State scored single runs in the fifth and seventh inning but
Shaelynn Myers got a groundout to end the game.
Myers went the distance, giving up five hits and striking out five. Vargas, Osikowicz and Estupinian each had two hits.
SHU will travel to Shippensburg next Saturday for a doubleheader.
