Seton Hill hosted Gannon in a PSAC West contest on Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center.
Jimmy Moon scored a career high 28 points on seven three pointers but it was not enough as Gannon defeated the Griffins by a 82-76 score.Â
Gannon opened the game on an 8-0 run in the first four minutes of the contest. SHU answered back with nine of the next ten points to cut the lead to 10-9 with 13:49 to play. Gannon scored the next four points before back to back three pointers from Moon and
Marrek Paola gave SHU its first lead at 15-14 midway thru the half.Â
Another three pointer from
Nathan Davis put SHU in front 18-16 but the Knights would outscore the Griffins 17-11 over the final eight minutes to take a 33-29 lead into the halftime break.Â
After Gannon built its lead to eight points a jumper from Paola and a three pointer from
Jaden Nelson trimmed the lead to 37-34 three minutes into the half. The Knights increased their lead to 46-36 with 13:08 to play but Moon hit three straight three pointers to cut the Knights lead to 51-47. Davis followed with a basket to cut the lead to 51-49 with 10:34 to go. That would be as close as the Griffins would get over the final ten minutes as the Knights built their lead to as many as ten points.Â
Davis hit another three pointer to cut the lead to 76-72 with 41 seconds to play but the Knights hit six free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Moon scored a career high 28 points on 7-8 shooting from three point land. He was also 7-8 from the line. Davis finished the game with 22 points.Â
Samuel Tabe just missed double figures with 9 points.Â
SHU returns to action on Wednesday when they host Salem in non conference play.Â
