Men's Hoops Falls in Road Finale

The Griffins played their final road contest of the season on Wednesday evening as they played at Pitt Johnstown.

Seton Hill closed the game on a 10-0 run but it was not enough in an 85-73 loss to the Mountain Cats.

Seton Hill came out of the gates quickly as Nathan Davis hit a three and Chimaobi Ezekwesili added two more baskets to put SHU in front 7-2 just two minutes into the contests.  Over the next five minutes the Mountain Cats outscored the Griffins 11-0 to take a 13-7 lead with just over thirteen minutes to play.

Back to back baskets from Tommy Sekunda tied the game at 17 with 8:51 to play in the half.  An Anthony Karabatsos three pointer and a Drew Green layup put the Griffins in front 24-21 with 6:44 to go.  UPJ then closed the half on a 19-6 run to take a 40-30 lead into the halftime break.

After UPJ built their lead to as many as 15, Marrek Paola hit a three and Drew Green added a free throw to get back to within ten points with sixteen minutes to play.  In less than four minutes, the Mountain Cats were able to double their lead to twenty points at the under twelve media timeout.

The Griffins were able to close the game on a 10-0 run to trim the lead to twelve.

Davis led the Griffins with 19 points.  Sekunda finished with 13 points and Paola added 12 points.

SHU will end their season on Saturday when they host Edinboro.
