Big Second Half Lifts Griffins Over Jefferson

GREENSBURG -  The Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team outscored Jefferson, 8-3, in the second half to complete the come-from-behind win on Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.

// NOTABLES

• Seton Hill moves to 2-0 overall on the year, while Jefferson is 0-1.
Olivia Caragein and Kristi Kada poured in four goals apiece.
Elizabeth Tamasitis and Aliana TeSelle scored their first collegiate goals.
Alyssa Ference and Taylor Fox-Trudel both chipped in goals.
Kamille Ward grabbed 8 saves for the win.

// HOW IT HAPPENED

•  Jefferson would shoot out of the gate with three goals in the first five minutes of the contest, but Olivia Caragein's goal at 23:23 halted the Jefferson momentum. After Jefferson's Sarah von Lange scored to give the visitor's a 3-1 lead, Taylor Fox-Trudel and Caragein scored back-to-back goals to pull to within one with 12:28 remaining in the first half. The two teams would trade goals, but Jefferson would score two to Seton Hill's one to close out the first half with a 7-5 lead.
• It was Seton Hill that came out of the second half gate on fire, scoring the half's first three goals to take a 8-7 lead with 22:16 remaining in the half. Kristi Kada got the party started with a goal just five minutes into the frame followed by goals from Alyssa Ference and Elizabeth Tamasitis. After a Jefferson goal tied the game at 8-8, goals from Kada and Tamasitis at 18:29 and 16:08 capped off by a goal from Olivia Caragein at 10:21 gave SHU a 11-8 lead. Jefferson would respond with a goal at 9:11, but Aliana TeSelle's draw control grab and ensuing goal pushed the lead back to three, 12-9, just 10 seconds later. Jefferson's goal at 4:23 got the lead back down to two, 12-10, but SHU would keep possession throughout the remainder, and another goal from Kada with 33 seconds remaining ensured the Seton Hill win, 13-10.
