Seton Hill played their home opener on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Malone in a single nine inning contest.
Malone scored multiple runs in three innings and took advantage of seven Griffins errors in a 9-3 win over SHU. The Pioneers improve to 3-0 on the season while SHU falls to 3-1.Â
Malone took advantage of a leadoff error in the third inning and took a 3-0 lead after they added three hits in the inning. The Griffins got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning when
Kailen Grimm, who walked, scored on a
Tommy Pellis double.Â
The Pioneers got that run right back in the top of the fourth inning when they took advantage of two SHU errors to add an unearned run. SHU cut the lead to one run in the bottom of the sixth. After an out,
Isaiah DiAndreth doubled and
Parker Denny drew a walk. Both scored when
Jordan Fiedor singled and the Pioneers committed an error in the outfield to get the Griffins back to 4-3.Â
Malone added two unearned runs in the seventh inning and added three more in the ninth for the 9-3 win.
Pellis and DiAndreth each had two hits for the Griffins.
SHU will play a doubleheader against Walsh on Sunday afternoon starting at 11:30 AM.Â
