Seton Hill opened their 2020 season with a doubleheader in Hartsville, SC against Coker on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins were able to sweep the Cobras in the doubleheader. SHU took game one by a 7-2 score and then won game two by a 10-1 score.Â
Game one remained scoreless until the third inning.Â
Derek Orndorff was hit by a pitch and stole second before scoring on a
Tommy Pellis single.Â
Tyler Zaluski homered to give SHU a 2-0 lead.Â
SHU added three runs in the sixth.Â
Tanner Froehlich,
Jordan Fiedor and
Austin Braendel each had RBI singles in the inning. Pellis again singled in Orndorff in the seventh to increase the lead to 6-0. Orndorff added a RBI fly out in the ninth inning for the final Griffin run.Â
Pellis and Froehlich each had three hits for the Griffins. Fiedor added two hits.Â
Jared Kollar worked six shutout innings and struck out ten to earn the win.Â
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game two.Â
Isaiah DiAndreth doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a Fiedor single. They added two more runs in the third inning on a
Parker Denny two run homer.Â
Froehlich homered to lead off the fifth inning.Â
Tyler Zaluski doubled and scored on a DiAndreth single to give SHU a 5-1 lead in the fifth. Zaluski added two more RBIs in the sixth to increase the SHU lead to 7-1.Â
SHU scored their final three runs in the seventh inning. Fiedor tripled and scored on a
Owen Sabol base hit. Orndorff homered to knock in two for the final two runs of the game.Â
Zaluski, DiAndreth and Fiedor each had two hits in game two.Â
George Coyle went five innings to earn the win in game two. He struck out four. Caiden Wook and
Nash Bryan each threw a scoreless inning.
SHU concludes the three game set on Sunday with a single nine inning contest at 11 AM.Â
