Seton Hill made the short road trip to Indiana, PA for a meeting with the #5 Crimson Hawks.
The Griffins stayed close with IUP over the first quarter of play but IUP was able to pull away in the next three quarters thanks to three point shooting for a 81-55 victory.
The Griffins took an early 7-5 lead on a three pointer from Cheyenne Trest less than three minutes into the contest. After IUP took a 12-7 lead, Katie Nolan hit a three and Trest finished a layin to tie the contest at 12. Trest then followed with a basket as part of a three point play to put SHU in front 15-14 with 3:26 to play in the quarter. IUP answered with two three pointers to take a 20-15 lead. A late basket from Lexi Civittolo cut the IUP lead to 20-17 after one quarter of play.
IUP built their lead to 25-19 before a Trest and Civittolo layup cut the lead to 25-23 with 6:25 to play. The Crimson Hawks increased their lead to 34-26 with two minutes to play in the half. IUP took a 37-27 lead into the halftime break.
Trest opened the second half scoring with a basket and Sydney Rabold hit one of two free throws to cut the IUP lead to 37-30. IUP responded with a quick 7-0 run to take a 44-30 lead and force a SHU timeout with 6:04 to play in the quarter. IUP hit two straight three pointers to build their lead to 50-34. IUP took a 61-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
Civittolo led the Griffins with 16 points. Trest finished with 15. Nolan added 9.
The Griffins continue their road trip at Clarion on Saturday afternoon.
