IUP Pulls Away in the Second Half for Win over SHU

Seton Hill made the short trip to Indiana, PA for a meeting with the number five IUP Crimson Hawks. 

Seton Hill trailed by just three at the half but IUP pulled away in the second half for a 92-65 win. 

Three pointers from Marrek Paola and Tommy Sekunda and a baseline jumper from Drew Green in the first five minutes kept the Griffins close at 12-8.  Paola ended a 7-0 IUP run with a basket to cut the lead to 15-10 with 14:05 to play in the half. 

Six straight points from Nathan Davis helped the Griffins cut the IUP lead to 23-16 with just under ten minutes to play in the half.  A driving layup from Michael Joiner cut the lead to 23-18 at the under eight media timeout. 

Davis scored 10 out of 12 points for the Griffins as they cut the IUP lead to three at 34-31 with 2:35 to play in the half.  IUP took a 37-33 lead into the halftime break. 

IUP opened the second half with a 9-4 run to take a 46-37 lead at the 16:40 mark of the second half.  Baskets from Drew Green and Paola cut the IUP lead to 45-41 but IUP scored the next five to take a 51-41 lead. 

IUP was able to extend their lead to fifteen points at 58-43 at the under twelve media timeout.  The Griffins knocked one point off their deficit as they trailed by fourteen at the under eight media timeout. 

Davis and Green led the Griffins with 18 points each.  Paola added 17 points. 

SHU will continue their road trip on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Clarion for another PSAC contest.
