Women's Hoops Drops PSAC Road Contest at Edinboro

Seton Hill hit the road for the first time after a three game homestand when they traveled to Edinboro for a PSAC West matchup on Wednesday evening.

Edinboro led throughout the contest and settled for a 90-71 victory over the Griffins.  Seton Hill falls to 12-5 overall and 7-5 in PSAC play while Edinboro is now 9-7 overall and 7-5 in the PSAC.

Edinboro scored the first eight points of the contest before Katie Nolan got the Griffins on the board just over two minutes into the contest.  Two baskets from Taylin Tyler cut the Scots lead to 22-14 at the end of the first quarter.  Nolan and Tyler each had six points in the first quarter.

Just over three minutes into the second quarter, Cheyenne Trest hit a three pointer to cut the lead to 26-17.  Edinboro answered with an 8-2 run to take a 34-19 lead at the second quarter media timeout.  SHU was able to cut the Scots lead to 42-27 at the half when Madelyn Fischer hit a basket and Samantha Kosmacki drilled a three before the halftime buzzer.

The Scots were able to build their lead out to 58-33 early in the third quarter as they opened the second half on a 16-6 run over the first four minutes of the quarter.  SHU answered with four straight before the Scots ended the quarter on an 18-13 run to take a 76-50 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Griffins were able to battle back and cut the Scots lead to 82-66 midway thru the fourth quarter but the Scots were able to put the game away down the stretch.

Trest led the Griffins with 13 points.  Fischer also reached double figures with 11 points.  Nolan added 8 points and 8 rebounds.

The Griffins will return to action on Saturday when they host Pitt Johnstown.
