The Griffin volleyball team finished their trip to Big Rapids, Michigan and the Ferris State Tournament with a pair of matches on Saturday.
Seton Hill opened the day with a 3-1 victory over New Haven. They then met #12 Ferris State in the nightcap of the tournament. The highly ranked Bulldogs swept the Griffins in the nightcap. SHU finishes the tournament with a 3-1 record.
SHU opened the New Haven match with a 25-18 first set win. New Haven tied the match at one with a 25-23 second set win. Seton Hill took a 2-1 advantage with a 25-18 third set win. The Griffins closed out the match with a 25-19 fourth set win.
Viktoria Farian led the Griffins with 14 kills.
Jillian Livorse also added double figure kills with 12.
Cameron Baril added 8 kills while
Jessica Hanson and
Erin Parks added 6. Baril paced the offense with 20 assists.
Taylor Sabol added 18. Baril and Hanson each had four blocks. Livorse led SHU with 27 kills. Farian added 26 and
Veronica Johns finished with 25.
Ferris State jumped on the Griffins with a 25-14 first set win. SHU battled in the second set and were tied at 23 but the Bulldogs scored the final two points for a 25-23 second set win. Ferris State closed out the match with a 25-14 third set win.
Farian again paced the Griffins in kills with 11. Hanson finished with 8 kills. Sabol led SHU with 20 assists. Johns had 14 digs while Farian added 10.
For their performance in the entire tournament both Farian and Johns were named to the All Tournament Team.
SHU will return to the court for their home opener against Lake Erie on Tuesday, September 17th.
