Farian's Career Day Not Enough at Tiffin

The Griffins are in Ohio this weekend for a pair of tournaments starting with a match at Findlay on Saturday afternoon.

Seton Hill took on host Findlay in their first match of the weekend.  SHU won the first set but Findlay rallied to win the next three for a 3-1 victory.  SHU falls to 4-2 while Findlay improves to 2-8.

SHU got off to a quick start in the first set, taking an early 4-1 lead on kills from Viktoria Farian and blocks from Taylor Sabol and Jessica Hanson.  After Findlay tied the set at seven, SHU ran off five of the next six points to take a 13-8 lead.  SHU was able to build their lead to 20-13 but Findlay fought back to tie the set at 21.  Two kills from Farian and a Findlay hitting error gave SHU a 25-22 first set win.

The Griffins led thru the early portions of the second set and held a 10-7 lead.  The Oilers then went on a 9-2 run to take a 16-12 lead.  The Griffins got to within one point twice late in the set but the Oilers tied the match with a 25-22 second set win.

Seton Hill again took an early lead in the set, building a 9-5 lead.  Nine straight from Findlay gave them a 14-9 lead.  Trailing 18-15 SHU went on a 6-0 run to take a 21-18 lead.  Farian had three kills and Sabol and Hanson combined on a block during the run.  A Farian ace gave SHU a 23-19 lead.  Three Jillian Livorse kills gave SHU three set points but the Oilers were able to fight off all three and scored the final three points of the set for a 30-28 win to lead 2-1 in the match.

Findlay led throughout the fourth set to close out the match with a 25-17 win.

Farian posted a career high 28 kills in the match.  Livorse added 11 kills.  Sabol led the offense with 41 assists and 5 blocks.  Veronica Johns led SHU with 22 digs.  Farian added 15.

SHU will continue play in Ohio on Sunday at Tiffin.  They will play Hillsdale in the morning and Tiffin in the afternoon.
