Seton Hill and Mercyhurst met on Sunday afternoon in a make up doubleheader from Friday. SHU took game one by a 2-1 score and the Lakers responded with a 5-4 win in game two. SHU is now 19-11 overall and 5-3 in PSAC West action.
Game was was a pitcher's dual in the early part of the game as neither team could get on the scoreboard. Mercyhurst got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fourth inning. SHU responded with a run on a
Chelsea Rohan leadoff homer in the top of the fifth inning to tie the score at one.
With two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Rohan and
Christiana Skrabak each walked.
Nichole McClendon then singled to knock in Rohan and give SHU a 2-1 lead.
Devyn Terry got the Lakers in the seventh to earn the save.
Leighann Pettis earned the win in the circle.
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of game two. Skrabak scored when
Abbie Thrower reached on a fielders choice. The Lakers retook the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Griffins took a 4-2 lead in the sixth. Thrower reached on an error. She scored when
Trinity Cumo tripled. Brook Bower followed with a double to knock in Cumo and
Jenna Osikowicz made it 4-2 with an RBI single.
The Lakers scored three times in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead.
Bower led the offense with 3 hits.
SHU will host IUP in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.
