Seton Hill concluded their four game set with a doubleheader in Erie on Sunday against Gannon. The Griffins led from the second inning on in a 5-1 win in game one. SHU rallied from 8-3 down in game two only to see Gannon hit a leadoff homer in the eleventh for a 9-8 win. SHU and Gannon split the four game set. The Griffins are now 16-14 overall and 7-5 in PSAC play.
The Griffins jumped in front of the Knights in the second inning of game one.
Brandon Kline led off the inning with a double. He scored on a
Jordan Fiedor single.
Kailen Grimm moved up Fiedor with a sacrifice bunt and Fiedor scored on an
Andrew Chuba single.
The Knights cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fourth. The Griffins used a suicide squeeze play in the sixth inning to push their lead to two.
Adam Bankovich's bunt scored Kline who singled.
SHU added two insurance runs in the seventh. With one out,
Tommy Pellis singled. He scored on an
Isaiah DiAndreth homer to make it 5-1.
Marshall McGraw earned the win with a complete game victory. He gave up four hits while striking out seven. Kline and Chuba each had two hits.
Gannon took a 3-0 lead after three innings of game two. The Griffins tied the game at three in the fourth inning. After two outs,
Chris Law and Bankovich singled. Chuba walked to load the bases.
Ryan Grieco reached on an infield single to cut the lead to 3-1.
Tommy Pellis then reached on an error allowing two runs to score and tie the game at three.
The Knights answered back with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. SHU used a Law RBI single and
Tyler Peterson sacrifice fly to trim the lead to 8-5 in the fifth inning.
SHU tied the game at eight in the sixth. Grieco was hit by a pitch and Pellis drew a walk. DiAndreth singled to cut the lead to 8-6. After a sac bunt, Kline's groundout made the score 8-7. DiAndreth scored on a wild pitch to tie the score at eight.
Gannon won the game with a leadoff homer in the eleventh inning.
Christian Seelhorst worked five scoreless innings in relief. He gave up one hit and struck out seven.
