The Griffin women ended their regular season on the road at Millersville on Saturday afternoon with PSAC playoff positioning on the line.
The Marauders opened up the scoring less than two minutes into the contest but
Mackenzie Kilduff tied the score at one for the Griffins with 21:49 to play in the first half. Millersville scored three straight goals to take a 4-1 lead before
Jaclyn Frank cut the lead to 4-2 with 15:23 to play in the half.
Keagan Pontious answered a Marauder goal to trim the lead to 5-3 with just over six minutes to play in the half. SHU outshot the Marauders 19-14 in the half but trailed by a 5-3 score.
After a Marauder goal, Pontious trimmed the lead to 6-4 early in the second half. The Marauders answered with two straight to take an 8-4 lead with just over 26 minutes to play in the half.
Five straight goals from the Griffins gave them their first lead of the day at 9-8 with 14 minutes to play in the second half. Taylor Fox Trudel scored two of the goals during the run.
Alyssa Ference pushed the lead to 10-8. The Marauders scored two in a row to tie the score at ten.
Kilduff put the Griffins back in front with just over nine minutes to play. Two more from the Marauders gave them a 12-11 lead. Three straight goals from Kilduff put SHU back in front 14-12 with 3:37 to play. The Marauders trimmed the lead to 14-13 with two minutes to play. The Griffins won the draw and were able to run the clock down to 33 seconds before turning the ball over. Millersville got a free position shot with two seconds left but
Hailey Jacobs made the save to secure the win.
Kilduff led the offense with 6 goals. Pontious added three goals. Frank finished with 2 goals and 5 assists. Fox-Trudel added two goals. Jacobs added 8 saves in the win
SHU will hit the road for the PSAC playoffs on Tuesday afternoon. The Griffins will travel to IUP for a first round PSAC matchup.
