Seton Hill played their final road doubleheader of the season as they traveled to Slippery Rock to take on the Rock on Saturday afternoon. SHU took game one by a 3-1 score. The Griffins completed the sweep with a 10-2 win in game two to clinch a PSAC playoff spot. SHU is now 27-15 overall and 12-6 in PSAC West play.
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Brooke Bower led off with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch. Bower scored when
Jenna Osikowicz singled up the middle to knock in Bower.
The Griffins increased their lead to 3-0 in the second inning.
Nichole McClendon led off with an infield single. She stole second and scored on a
Devyn Terry single. After
Abbie Thrower singled, both Bower and Osikowicz were hit by pitches to force in the third run.
Devyn Terry earned the win with a complete game six hitter. She struck out 5. Bower led the offense with 3 hits. Osikowicz and McClendon with 2 hits each. Osikowicz added two RBI.
SHU scored three times in the second inning of game two. Thrower drew a leadoff walk.
Ashley Boehm hit a sac fly to make the score 1-0. Bower added an RBI triple that made the score 3-0.
The Rock got a run back in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Slippery Rock added another run in the fifth inning to trim the lead to 3-2.
Bower led off the seventh inning with a homer to left field to push the lead back to two.
Samantha Estupinian added a RBI infield single to extend the lead to 5-2 in the seventh. Terry followed with an RBI single to push the lead to four. Boehm, Bower and Osikowicz added RBIs as SHU extended the lead to 10-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
Skyla Greco earned the win with a complete game four hitter. She struck out 6. Bower led the offense with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Osikowicz and Terry added two hits.
SHU will close out the regular season with a doubleheader with California (PA) on Sunday afternoon.
