SHU Clinches PSAC Playoff Spot with Sweep

Seton Hill played their final road doubleheader of the season as they traveled to Slippery Rock to take on the Rock on Saturday afternoon.  SHU took game one by a 3-1 score.  The Griffins completed the sweep with a 10-2 win in game two to clinch a PSAC playoff spot.  SHU is now 27-15 overall and 12-6 in PSAC West play. 
 
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Brooke Bower led off with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch.  Bower scored when Jenna Osikowicz singled up the middle to knock in Bower. 
 
The Griffins increased their lead to 3-0 in the second inning.  Nichole McClendon led off with an infield single.  She stole second and scored on a Devyn Terry single.  After Abbie Thrower singled, both Bower and Osikowicz were hit by pitches to force in the third run. 
 
Devyn Terry earned the win with a complete game six hitter. She struck out 5.  Bower led the offense with 3 hits. Osikowicz and McClendon with 2 hits each. Osikowicz added two RBI.
 
SHU scored three times in the second inning of game two.  Thrower drew a leadoff walk.  Ashley Boehm hit a sac fly to make the score 1-0.  Bower added an RBI triple that made the score 3-0. 
 
The Rock got a run back in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1.  Slippery Rock added another run in the fifth inning to trim the lead to 3-2. 
 
Bower led off the seventh inning with a homer to left field to push the lead back to two.  Samantha Estupinian added a RBI infield single to extend the lead to 5-2 in the seventh.  Terry followed with an RBI single to push the lead to four.  Boehm, Bower and Osikowicz added RBIs as SHU extended the lead to 10-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh. 
 
Skyla Greco earned the win with a complete game four hitter.  She struck out 6.  Bower led the offense with 3 hits and 3 RBI.  Osikowicz and Terry added two hits. 
 
SHU will close out the regular season with a doubleheader with California (PA) on Sunday afternoon.
