Seton Hill hosted Kutztown on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon and the Griffins made sure to keep their fans happy as they scored the first eleven goals of the contest in route to a 16-4 victory. SHU has now won six of its last seven contests and is 9-6 overall and 7-3 in PSAC play.
The Griffins came out of the gates firing scoring the first eleven goals of the game. They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead just 48 seconds into the contest on goals from
Keagan Pontious and
Mackenzie Kilduff. Another goal from Pontious and Kilduff along with one from
Katelyn Cressman pushed the Griffins lead to 5-0 less than five minutes into the contest.
Ashley Ingram and
Olivia Caragein scored just thirty five seconds apart to push the lead to 7-0 with 22:50 to play in the half.
Taylor Fox-Trudel, Cressman,
Alyssa Ference and Pontious closed out the scoring in the first half for the Griffins. Kutztown scored once before the half to trim the SHU lead to 11-1 at the half. SHU held a 30-9 advantage in shots in the first half.
Seton Hill scored the first four goals of the second half as they continued to use the running clock. Caragein scored the first goal of the second half and then Kilduff scored three straight to push the lead to 15-1 with 19:46 to play in the half.
Jaclyn Frank closed out the scoring for the Griffins in the contest.
Kilduff paced the offense with 5 goals including her 100th career goal in the first half. Pontious added 3 goals and 4 assists to lead SHU with 7 points. Cressman finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. Frank added a goal and 2 assists while Caragein finished with 2 goals.
Hannah Powell finished with 2 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers.
Hailey Jacobs earned the win in cage with 3 saves while allowing just one goal in 38 minutes of action.
The Griffins will host Indiana (PA) on Wednesday afternoon in an important PSAC and Atlantic Regional contest.
