The Griffins continued PSAC West play on Tuesday with a make up doubleheader at Gannon. SHU took game one by a 3-0 score and completed the sweep with a 4-2 win in game two. SHU is now 17-9 on the season and 3-1 in PSAC play.
Game one was a pitcher's dual between the Griffins
Devyn Terry and Gannon's Madi Beining as both pitchers kept their opponents off the scoreboard over the first six innings of the contest. Each team just had two hits over the first six innings.
SHU got on the scoreboard in the seventh inning. After an out,
Brooke Bower doubled to left center field.
Jenna Osikowicz tripled to drive in Bower and give SHU a 1-0 lead. Osikowicz scored when
Christiana Skrabak grounded out. With two outs,
Chelsea Rohan homered to center field to give SHU a 3-0 lead. Terry stranded two runners on in the seventh with two fly outs to end the game.
Terry earned the win in the circle with a complete game shutout. She gave up just four hits and struck out seven.
Seton Hill took an early 1-0 lead in game two. Bower led off the game with a double. Osikowicz put runners on first and third with a bunt single. After a foul out, Rohan knocked in Bower with a groundout.
The Griffins added on in the second inning.
Nichole McClendon singled to lead off the inning. After an out,
Alexis Vargas singled to put runners on first and third. With two outs, Bower singled to score both McClendon and Vargas and give SHU a 3-0 lead.
Gannon scored two unearned runs in the second inning to cut the SHU lead to 3-2.
The game remained 3-2 until the seventh inning. With two outs in the seventh inning Osikowicz raced around the bases with an inside the park homer to extend the lead to 4-2.
Terry earned her second win of the game with five scoreless innings of relief. She gave up just one hit and struck out seven. Bower and Osikowicz each had two hits in the win.
SHU will return to action on Friday when they travel to Mercyhurst.
