Griffins Split DH at Slippery Rock

Seton Hill closed out its four game set with Slippery Rock on Tuesday afternoon at Butler's Krill Field.  The Griffins split the doubleheader to win three of the four games with the Rock this season.  SHU clinched a series with with a 12-7 win in game one.  The Rock responded with a 5-2 win in game two.  SHU is now 13-12 overal and 5-3 in PSAC action.

The Griffins opened game one by scoring three runs in the top of the first.  Andrew Chuba drew a leadoff walk.  He stole second and scored on a Ryan Grieco single.  Tommy Pellis followed with a single to knock in Grieco.  Parker Denny singled and both runners moved up on a bunt from Chris Law.  Pellis scored on an Isaiah DiAndreth sacrifice fly. 

After the Rock tied the score at three, SHU answered with two runs in the second.  Jordan Fiedor singled and scored on a Chuba single.  Chuba then scored on a Pellis RBI groundout.  SHU also answered a Rock run with a run of their own in the third.  DiAndreth drove in Law who doubled. 

The Rock tied the score at six in the bottom of the fourth and took a 7-6 lead in the fifth.  SHU retook the lead in the sixth.  Fiedor led off the inning with a triple.  He scored when Adam Bankovich hit a two run homer.  Grieco then reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 9-7 advantage.  SHU added three more runs in the seventh for a 12-7 lead. 

Chuba, Grieco and Fiedor each had two hits.  Caiden Wood earned the win in relief.  Ben Vicini earned the save with two scoreless innings of relief. 

SHU took a 2-0 lead in the third inning of game two.  Brandon Kline led off the inning with a single.  After two outs, Grieco singled to drive in Kline.  Pellis was hit by a pitch and DiAndreth drove in Grieco with a single for a 2-0 lead. 

The Rock trimed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning.  Two runs for the Rock gave them a 3-2 lead.  Slippery Rock closed out their scoring with two runs in the fifth.

Grieco and Pellis each had two hits. 

SHU will take a break from PSAC play on Wednesday afternoon when they host West Liberty in a single 9 inning contest.
