Seton Hill hosted Mercyhurst on a sunny and warm Thursday afternoon in Greensburg. The Griffins used the arm and bat of
Devyn Terry in a 4-0 game one win. SHU completed the sweep with a 7-1 win in game two. SHU is now 25-13 overall and 10-4 in PSAC West action.
The Griffins took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. After an out,
Alexis Vargas singled and moved to third on an error.
Megan Miller was hit by a pitch and stole second to put runners on second and third.
Devyn Terry then singled thru the middle with two outs to score two runs and give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.
SHU added two more runs in the fourth inning. Miller drew a leadoff walk and scored when
Devyn Terry homered over the right field fence.
Terry won her 13
th game of the season with the complete game shutout. She gave up just 2 hits while striking out five. She was also 3-3 at the plate with a homer and four RBI.
Brooke Bower and Vargas each added two hits.
Mercyhurst took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game two.
Seton Hill tied the game in the second inning. With one out, Terry drew a walk.
Abbie Thrower reached on a fielders choice and
Ashley Boehm singled to put runners on first and second with two outs. Bower walked to load the bases.
Jenna Osikowicz then knocked in Thrower when she reached on an infield single.
SHU took the lead in the fourth inning. Terry drew a leadoff walk. Miller pinch ran and moved up on a Thrower sac bunt. Pinch hitter
Trinity Cumo was hit by a pitch. Bower followed with an RBI single. Osikowicz walked to load the bases and Cumo scored on a
Christiana Skrabak sac fly to make it 3-1.
The Griffins added two more insurance runs in the fifth inning. After Miller drew a walk, Thrower hit a two run shot just inside left field foul pole to push the lead to 5-1.
SHU continued to add on in the sixth. Osikowicz led off the inning with a triple to center field. Skrabak was hit by a pitch. Both moved up on a wild pitch with Osikowicz scoring. Vargas then followed with an RBI ground out to increase the score to 7-1.
Skyla Greco earned the win with a complete game win. She gave up one run on three hits while striking out five. Bower and Osikowicz each had two hits.
SHU will return to action on Saturday when they host Gannon.
