Softball Splits Another Pair in Florida

After taking a day off on Tuesday, the Griffins returned to the field on Wednesday with a pair of games.  For the second straight time the Griffins split a pair of games.  Seton Hill defeated Wheeling Jesuit 6-0 in the first game then dropped a 6-3 decision to Cedarville in the night cap.  SHU is now 6-2 on the season.

The Griffins scored twice in the top of the second inning against Wheeling Jesuit.  Chelsea Rohan reached on an error to start the inning.  Christiana Skrabak singled to put runners on first and second.  Both runners stole to move up to second and third.  Rohan scored on a passed ball and Skrabak scored when Nichole McClendon singled to give SHU a 2-0 lead.

SHU added three more runs in the third all after two outs.  Morgan Toal and Rohan singled and both scored on a double from Skrabak.  Abbie Thrower followed with a double to put the Griffins in front 5-0.  They added their sixth run on a Jenna Osikowicz single in the seventh.

Skyla Greco earned her fifth win of the season with a complete game shutout.  She gave up just five hits and struck out three.  Skrabak and Osikowicz each had three hits in the win.  Rohan and Thrower each added two hits.

Cedarville scored single runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-0 lead over the Griffins.

The Griffins scored three times in the sixth to trim the lead to 4-3.  After an out, Toal drew a walk.  With two outs, Skrabak walked.  Toal scored on a Devyn Terry double.  Both runners then scored when Thrower doubled to cut the lead to 4-3.

Cedarville added two more in the seventh for the 6-3 win.

Terry suffered the loss in the circle.  She gave up 4 earned runs and struck out 4.  Toal was the lone Griffin with two hits.

SHU continues play in Florida on Thursday when they take on Northern State and Malone.
