Seton Hill made the short trip from Kissimmee to Tampa to take on the #7 Tampa Spartans on Tuesday afternoon as a part of their spring break trip. Tampa jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back in an 11-2 victory over the Griffins. SHU falls to 4-4 on the season and Tampa improves to 12-5.
Tampa jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Griffins after a three run homer in the bottom of the first inning. They added another run in the second inning on a leadoff home run.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. After an out,
Tyler Zaluski tripled. Pinch runner
Colton Carney then scored on a sacrifice fly from
Andrew Chuba.
The Spartans scored four times in the bottom half of the inning to push their lead to 8-1. They added three more runs with a bases clearing double in the fifth.
SHU scored their final run in the eighth.
Nick Stotler drew a leadoff walk.
Tommy Pellis then reached on an infield base hit.
Parker Denny singled to cut the lead to 11-2. After an out, Chuba walked to load the bases, but two strikeouts ended the inning.
Jordan Fiedor and Stotler each had two hits for the Griffins.
The Griffins will be off on Wednesday before taking on Malone at Rollins on Thursday morning.
